The daily and weekly summary emails are a good way to monitor your application&#8217;s activities without having to receive multiple emails throughout the day.<\/li>\n<li><b>A line of text to be included in the email.<\/b> This value is optional, but you can use it to explicitly label a server &amp; application when you have many installed with the same name (for example, when you are running the same application on multiple workstations).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"smtp-settings\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr class=\"blog-section\">\n<div style=\"margin:0px;float:right;\"><a href=\"#top\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.coretechnologies.com\/images\/top.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"50\" height=\"18\" title=\"Go to the top\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom:5px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"blog-caption\">Server\/SMTP settings<\/h2>\n<p>\nAlwaysUp doesn&#8217;t require that you have Outlook or any other email software installed. Instead, it deals directly with your SMTP server &mdash; the machine actually responsible for routing your email over the Internet and delivering it to your recipients. Every major provider (such as Gmail, Yahoo and Office 365) supports SMTP mail and it is simply a matter of providing those settings to AlwaysUp so that it can send messages on your behalf.\n<\/p>\n<p>Click the <b>Configure<\/b> button to reveal the details:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/blog\/images\/alwaysup-email-tab-configure-button.png\" class=\"zoomPopup\" title=\"Setup Email in AlwaysUp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-padding\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/alwaysup-email-tab-configure-button.png\" title=\"Setup Email in AlwaysUp (click to enlarge)\" alt=\"Setup Email in AlwaysUp\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The <b>Configure Email Settings<\/b> window that comes up requests quite a bit of information, but don&#8217;t be scared! Your systems administrator will be able to fill this in while balancing a bowl of water on his head and dancing the Macarena, but in case you are entering these values yourself here is what each field means:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/blog\/images\/alwaysup-email-server-settings.png\" class=\"zoomPopup\" title=\"Configure Email Server Settings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-padding\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/alwaysup-email-server-settings.png\" title=\"Configure Email Server Settings (click to enlarge)\" alt=\"Configure Email Server Settings\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><b>Address:<\/b> The email address that will be displayed in the &#8220;From&#8221; field of the email messages sent by AlwaysUp.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>Name:<\/b> The name that will be displayed in the &#8220;From&#8221; field of the email messages sent. This value is optional.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>Name\/IP:<\/b> The name (or IP address) of your mail server.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>Port:<\/b> The numeric port on which the mail server is available. Note that the default is 25 for regular SMTP servers and 465 for servers using SSL &mdash; please specify one if these if in doubt.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>This server requires encryption:<\/b> Check and make the appropriate selection if the mail server uses TLS, SSL or STARTTLS.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>This server requires authentication:<\/b> Check if the server requires authentication, and select the authentication method. The choices are CRAM-MD5, AUTH-LOGIN, AUTH-PLAIN, and AUTH-NTLM. A login and a password will be required for all but AUTH-NTLM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>Login:<\/b> The user name\/login for the mail server. Usually your full email address.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>Password:<\/b> The password for your email account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"configure-email-settings\"><\/a><a
