You don&#8217;t even need to log on!<\/p>\n<p>But to gain those benefits, AlwaysUp must launch OneDrive in the background as a <a href=\"\/WindowsServices\/FAQ.html#WhatIsAWindowsService\">Windows Service<\/a>. In that situation, described in our tutorial showing how to <a href=\"\/products\/AlwaysUp\/Apps\/RunOneDriveAsAService.html\">setup OneDrive as a Windows Service<\/a>, OneDrive&#8217;s usual &#8220;cloud&#8221; icon won&#8217;t appear on your taskbar. You won&#8217;t see the informative icon overlays beside the files and folders being synchronized either. And without those visual elements, how do you <i>know<\/i> that your important files and folders are being copied to and from the cloud?<\/p>\n<p>Perform this easy 4-step test to prove that your files are protected:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h2><b>Start OneDrive in AlwaysUp<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>From AlwaysUp, select &#8220;Start OneDrive&#8221; from the &#8220;Application&#8221; menu:<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/blog\/images\/start-onedrive-from-alwaysup.png\" class=\"zoomPopup\" rel=\"zoomgroup noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Start OneDrive from AlwaysUp\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/start-onedrive-from-alwaysup.png\" title=\"Start OneDrive from AlwaysUp (click to enlarge)\" alt=\"Start OneDrive from AlwaysUp\" border=\"0\" width=\"520\"><\/a><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Your service should transition to Running after a few seconds. This is a good opportunity for you to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ehs.ucsc.edu\/programs\/ergo\/stretch.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stretch those aching muscles<\/a>, or<\/li>\n<li>Grab a cup of coffee, or<\/li>\n<li>Respond to that annoying email you&#8217;ve been trying to forget.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OneDrive should be ready and waiting when you return.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><b>Create a new file in your OneDrive folder<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Open your OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer.
