Please answer these six questions to help us diagnose the problem:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left:1.3em;padding:0;\">\n<p><a name=\"application\"><\/a><\/p>\n<li style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\n<h2><b>What application are you installing as a Windows Service?<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<p>\nAlwaysUp runs <a href=\"\/products\/AlwaysUp\/Apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thousands of programs, batch files and scripts<\/a>, but each one brings its own unique challenges. Which one are you trying to run as a service? Is it publicly available? Knowing which build of the software you have installed enables us to offer you the best advice and the most helpful solutions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nTo find the version number, start AlwaysUp and select <b>About AlwaysUp&#8230;<\/b> from the <b>Help<\/b> menu. For example, Windows 10 might prevent you from interacting with your application, while older, less secure editions of Windows often behave very differently than their modern counterparts.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nRun the helpful <b>winver<\/b> command to confirm the operating system you are running. Some applications run perfectly with only the basic settings applied while others need fine tuning to operate smoothly. We recommend that you send us what you have so far, for review.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nTo export your application&#8217;s settings to a XML file:\n<\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>\n<p>Highlight your application in AlwaysUp<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Select <b>Export&#8230;<\/b> from the <b>Application<\/b> menu (shown here for Google Backup and Sync):\n<\/p>\n<div align=\"left\"><a href=\"\/blog\/images\/alwaysup-export-googledrivesync.png\" class=\"zoomPopup\" rel=\"zoomgroup noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Export from AlwaysUp\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/alwaysup-export-googledrivesync.png\" title=\"Export from AlwaysUp (click to enlarge)\" alt=\"Export from AlwaysUp\" width=\"500\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Save the XML file in a friendly location. Attach it to the email you will send with all these details.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We&#8217;ll take a look and let you know if we see anything fishy!<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"errors\"><\/a><\/p>\n<li style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\n<h2><b>Are any errors reported in the AlwaysUp Activity Logs?<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<p>\nAlwaysUp writes errors and warnings to the <a href=\"https:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/library\/cc722404(v=ws.11).aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Windows Event Logs<\/a> &#8212; the recommended destination for notifications and alerts from Windows Services. If so, then we know that the Windows account you are currently logged in to has the rights and capabilities required to run your application. It is useful to know <b>if this is a different account than what you supplied to AlwaysUp<\/b> (on the <a href=\"\/products\/AlwaysUp\/Screenshots\/alwaysup-add-application-logon-tab-415x593.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Logon tab<\/a>).\n<\/p>\n<p>\nTo find the name of your Windows account:\n<\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>\n<p>Start a command prompt. (Click the Start button and type &#8220;command&#8221; to find it in the list of programs on your PC.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Type <b>whoami<\/b> and hit the enter key.
