How to Monitor the DeltaCopy Windows Service with Service Protector |
Automatically restart your DeltaCopy Rsync server when it crashes, gets shut down accidentally or stops for any reason.
DeltaCopy
is an open source incremental backup program modeled on the popular
UNIX rsync utility.
It can be installed as a Windows Service,
to start immediately whenever your server reboots:
To monitor the DeltaCopy Windows Service with Service Protector:
-
Download and
install
Service Protector, if necessary.
-
Start Service Protector.
-
Select Protector > Add to open the Add Protector window:
-
On the General tab, in the Service to protect field, select the DeltaCopy windows service. It will be called DeltaCopy Server.
-
We're done with the basic setup so click the Save button to save your settings. In a few seconds, an entry for DeltaCopy Server will show up in the Service Protector window.
The DeltaCopy windows service will probably be running (click the green circle for details) but it is not yet being protected by Service Protector.
-
To start monitoring DeltaCopy, choose Protector > Start "DeltaCopy Server".
The shield icon in the Protected column will go green to show that DeltaCopy is being monitored by Service Protector.
-
And that's it! Next time your computer boots, DeltaCopy will start up automatically and Service Protector will start monitoring the service to restart it quickly it if it crashes for any reason.
We encourage you to edit the DeltaCopy Server entry in Service Protector and check out the many other settings that may be helpful in your environment.
For example, restart the service if it hogs the CPU, send an email notification if the service stops, and much more.
